Live Great and Make a Difference

Who are you in this vast, great world?

Like a grain of sand on the beach or a star in the heavens, each of us makes up but a small piece of the universe. Though small in stature, however, we are not small in purpose. Each of us brings our own experiences, talents, and perspectives to the colorful tapestry of life. A way to make a positive difference in the lives of those around us. To speak up for those whose voices have been silenced. To extend a helping hand to those who have been beaten down. To fight for unity, peace, and kindness throughout the world.

As individuals, we are small, unique, and influential. But when we join with others to create a unified world, we become something infinitely more beautiful. And powerful.

Dan Zadra’s book One: How Many People Does It Take to Make a Difference explains that every individual on this great planet is a marvel. It states that the “odds of your being born in this particular time, place, and circumstance” is about 1 in 400,000,000,000. How truly incredible!

You are not here by mistake, nor is any other soul on this planet. You are here for a purpose. There has never been another exactly like you. You have your own unique talents, visions, experiences, creative ideas, and opinions that make you different than anyone else. With your you-ness, you have the opportunity to engage in the incredible purpose of contributing positively to our great world. You are truly a miracle, and the world is brighter with you in it.

With your marvelousness and potential for great purpose comes great responsibility. You need to ask yourself how you can use your gifts to help others. You must take action to make a positive difference and enact social change. You need to advocate for yourself and for others.

As Heather Cortez once said, “To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.” You have the strength to spread your light and energy to improve the lives of your family, friends, acquaintances, and even strangers. You may be small, but you are powerful.

When each of us recognizes our personal responsibility and live our lives in the support of others, great change can happen. Only then will our world unite as one in peace, love, and friendship. Let us do great, live great, and be great. Together, we can change the world!
